Dhanalakshmi College of Engineering (DCE), an off-shoot of the prestigious Dhanalakshmi Educational Trust, was set up near Tambaram at Chennai in the year 2001-02. DCE is the brain child of the eminent and dedicated academician and former Professor of Anna University Dr.V.P.Ramamurthi. The college is approved by the All India Council for technical Education, New Delhi and affiliated to Anna University, Chennai. DCE is the sister institution of the Indian Institute of Professional Education(IIPE), an institute offering coaching for professional courses Entrance Examinations. It s an ISO 9001:2008 Certified Institution.
DCE has now grown into a ‘Distinguished centre foe Engineering and Technological studies’ providing a serene environment and congenial atmosphere for learning. The institution not only provides quality engineering education to mould the students into technologically sound, efficient, effective and creative engineers but also mould them as responsible human beings.
FOUNDER:
Dr.V.P.Ramamurthi, the founder and Managing Trustee of the college, is an alumnus of the prestigious College of Engineering, Guindy (now Anna University). He graduated in the year 1965 with a specialization in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and continued to teach in his alma-mater. His quest for higher education, prompted him to obtain post graduation from the same institution and Doctorate in the area of Power Electronics from IIT Chennai. He is very enterprising academician and has, to his credit of 20 technical papers, published in journals of national and international repute.
Dr.V.P.Ramamurthi is passionate about teaching and is dedicated to train world-class engineers who would shape technological innovations of the future. A dynamic team of eminent academicians, technocrats, and engineers led by the founder forms the backbone of the college management.
Dr.R.Jayachandra singh the secretary of the college is an able administrator and inspiration to staffs and students. Our vice principals Dr.N.T.Kumar(Academic) Dr.Duraiswamy(Administration) are the beacon of knowledge for making the students as responsible and disciplined Engineers.
PROGRAMS OFFERED:
The college offers four under graduation course. It offers B.E. degree in the streams of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering and B.Tech in Information Technology. The students of Diploma and B.Sc. degree with mathematics as one of the subjects are admitted at second year level of four year bachelor degree course.
It also offers two Master degree programmes. One is Master of computer application and other is Masters in Business Administration. These are completely administrated by the college and governing council which includes vibrant, go-getters who don’t hesitate to walk the extra mile to provide quality education.
PLACEMENT CELL:
The college provides wonderful placement services. The placement cell is ceaselessly functioning as an integral part of DCE. It strives towards the successful placement of all candidates from the institution in top ranking companies of India. Placement cell reflects a level of professionalism on par with any top notch industry. It maintains the data of students and information updated on a day- to- day basis.
Reputed companies like Infosys, Sutherland conduct training programs to augment the employment opportunities. Various agencies have been invited to train young minds in aptitude, reasoning and in areas where students need to improve. This cell has collaboration with Infosys, Virtusa, L&T, Nokia, Data Pattern, Airtel and so on.
In order to enable the students to make them multi- talented professionals, the placement cell provides training to the students by way of special lectures to face interviews through developmental assignments and group discussions. The objective of the placement cell is to improve aptitude, interview skills, communication skills through training, sharing the best practices by incorporating quality, integrity and sustainability.
Most of the students have been placed in technical companies like Infosys, TCS, CTS, Virtusa, Syntel Emphasis, L&T infotech, Mahindra, Satyam, HCL technologies as well as in Nokia, Siemens, Viseton Aircel, Airtel, Sutherland Global services, Cybernet etc. in various cities of India and abroad.
Placement cell is multifaceted not only in providing job opportunities but also inculcating good habits and discipline to face life with challenges and to come successful with flying colors in their endeavors.
DEPARTMENT ASSOCIATIONS:
The students, apart from normal classroom instructions and training need to be exposed to vast changes and advancement in science and technology. Each branch of study has its own association for this purpose.
The association will organize Seminars, symposium, workshops etc. Experts in the field will be invited to interact with students and the faculty and deliver lectures on recent trends, latest technology etc., so as to equip students to conform to diverse requirements of the industry.
SPORTS AND GAMES:
Excellent atmosphere prevails in the college campus to promote sports and games among students in addition to academics. The college provides separate and exclusive facilities for playing Cricket, Tennis, Basket Ball, Volley ball.
Indoor sports facilities like table tennis, Carrom board, Chess are also available for the students. A full- fledged gymnasium has been setup in the college premises to improve the physical fitness of the students.
TRANSPORT:
Totally there are 25 buses to provide transport facility to students and staff from various zones of Chennai. This service is offered assuring safe and punctual transportation. The well experienced and dutiful drivers ensure punctuality and provide hassle- free services.
CANTEEN:
The canteen provides breakfast, lunch and evening snacks for the staff, students and visitors. There is a separate building for canteen facilities easily accessible to both residents of the hostel and the day- scholars. The dining hall is spacious with separate sections for boys and girls. It can accommodate one thousand and two hundred persons at a time comfortably.
The mess hall is well-ventilated and properly lit. The kitchen is ultra- modern fitted with state-of-the-art gadgets. One can enjoy sylvan setting and scenic beauty around while taking food in the mess hall. The food is served by well attired canteen staff. Gloves and caps are mandatory for them.
The buffet system is followed in serving food, which ensures smooth flow. Food items served in the mess are tasty and standard as appreciated by students, staff and guests.
HOSTEL:
The college provides hostel facilities for students and staffs. Separate hostel for boys and girls are provided. The Principal, the Head of Institution is the warden for both boys and girls hostels. There are separate deputy warden for both the hostels.
